Two Way Serial Communication

The primary pieces of interaction are as following:

• When user touches star, arduino:
  • increased light brightness from default ‘10’ state to 255.
  • communicates to p5 which star / capacitive sensor was activated.
• Based on said interaction, p5 then:
  • retrieves respective audio file and plays from computer.
  • communicates when the audio file stops playing
• When p5 communicates that the audio file stop playing, arduino:
  • returns light state back to a level of 10.

One aspect I had to troubleshoot was ensuring that audio files would not play over each other if the user were to hit another star before the audio finished playing. To account for this, I had to manual set each light to the dim state for anytime a new light was activiated.

Installation onto Dome

Utilized a floral wreath circular wire to support in the installation process. Punctured holes on outer edge of ceiling and zip tied that hole to the inner edge of the floral wreath wire.

ThenI ziptied the outter edge of the floral wire wreath to the installation pillars.
