CORRECTING LOCATION OF STAR CEILING

After the play test with Josh, I realized that the place I had originally installed was still high for even tall people. I had placed in that location because it was most secure but I decided to take the risk of moving installation location in order to open up a more comfortable experience for the person inside.

DESIGN ISSUES

  1. Fabric/Blankets: Originally the draft was to cover the structure with blankets. As this structure became unexpectedly massive, I didn’t have the right heavy blankets that would make sense for this structure. Heavy blankets would make the structure look more sturdy from the outside. But I was on a budget and got cheaper fabric — making this look pretty bad!
  2. Uncooperative PCV pipes: I really struggle mixing natural materials with inorganic ones. Middle pipe was pretty off after morphing into a weird shape overnight last week. Painting it black made it easier on the eyes but it still stank.

DESIGN RISKS & TROUBLESHOOTING

  1. Decided to embrace the natural material and nested the top half of the structure
  2. The imbalance from the pvc pipe in the middle was really bothering to me so I created the illusion of some symmetry using twigs that created a symmetrical arch that became the front doorway.
  3. I continued to feel uneasy with the asymmetry that came with such a busy nest shape while the bottom half was originally of just black interior. So i swapped with some random cloth that was on sale and draped fabrics along the arch of some branches.

END RESULTS FOR NOW
